Vice-President for International Affairs of Saitama University (Japan) Seiichiro Nakabayashi has paid an official visit to Altai State University.

Mr. Nakabayashi got acquainted with the structure of the classical university, its academic potential, went to see the classrooms, and negotiated with Vice-Rector for Educational Work Evgeniy S. Anichkin and Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development Roman I. Raikin.

“There is a lot in common between our universities in terms of interdisciplinary programs, area of work and priority science areas: biomedicine, biotechnology, archaeology. We have been actively developing international cooperation for the recent years,” stated Evgeniy S. Anichkin. “ASU scientists conduct the research that is not only suitable for our region, but cope with global problems. It is essential to cooperate with the universities and science institutions from all over the world to solve these problems, so this is the reason for ASU to build a relationship network in different areas.”

Mr. Nakabayashi said Saitama University had only been conducting regional research until recently. Japanese universities are expected to integrate with the global community, search for scientific and cultural partners actively and organize joint projects.

Evgeniy S. Anichkin offered Mr. Nakabayashi a collaborative relationship and experience exchange, then sides have come to an agreement. In the nearest future the student exchange is going to be performed: a group of ASU students will go for an internship to Saitama University, then Japanese students will come to ASU. ASU and Saitama University are also willing to conduct a Russian-Japanese science conference and joint interdisciplinary research.

Currently, ASU and Saitama University are preparing a memorandum on cooperation.
