The Faculty of Physics and Technology was formed in 1974.

The academic staff is highly qualified. The Faculty’s lecturers include:

  • 15 professors and doctors of science;
  • more than 40 assistant professors, candidates of science;
  • 1 academician of International Higher Education Academy of Sciences, 2 corresponding members of Siberian Higher Education Academy of Sciences;
  • 2 honorary figures of Russian higher education;
  • 5 honorary workers of Russian higher vocational education;
  • 3 holders of educational fellowship for Russian outstanding scholars;
  • 3 Nobel committee experts;
  • 8 honorary workers of Altay State University;
  • 5 holders of Altai Region award in science and technology.

The Faculty’s scientists conduct scientific research, participate in different international and national programs and grant projects, programs of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Russian Foundation for Basic Research, Altai Krai businesses, Russian President’s grants for young scientists. Every year a number of lecturers and postgraduate students take part in science conferences and internships abroad.

As for the campus life, it is very interesting and rich in events. The Faculty’s Student Administration often organizes informal activities, amateur performances, evening parties. The Faculty of Physics and Technology is a leader among ASU Faculties in sports achievements. A lot of Faculty’s students are prizewinners of different sport and academic competitions and conferences.

Faculty of Physics and Technology offers the following educational programs

Bachelor's and Master's degree programs:

  • Physics;
  • Radiophysics;
  • Computer Science and Engineering;
  • Information Security.
Postgraduate courses:
  • Physics and Astronomy;
  • Computer Science and Engineering.

In addition to the main speciality students can also get a qualification in pedagogics, which makes it possible for them to work as school or university lecturers.

All educational programs are generally in Russian. To enroll in any educational program the applicant must have B1–B2 level of Russian or take 1 year course of Russian language at the Altai State University Preparatory Department.
