More than 4 thousand first-year students celebrate Knowledge Day at the University Courtyard

Traditionally, all first-year students of the flagship university, their teachers and parents, which is more than 5,000 people, started the first day of autumn from breaking into the groups by the faculties at the main building of Altai State University. At 10 a.m. they entered the courtyard through the symbolic Knowledge Gate to the music of the Russian students, with flags and holiday banners. Rector and professors of Altai State University, representatives of the legislative and executive authorities of the region, the State Duma, Council of University Graduates awaited the students at the Courtyard.

Opening the solemn event, Rector of Altai State University Sergey Zemlyukov wished all the students a successful and happy new academic year.

"September 1st is our common big holiday. We are glad to welcome our first year students who were yesterday the best applicants who came to enter Altai State University from the cities and regions of Altai Krai, 42 constituent entities of Russia, and 15 foreign countries. Today we welcome 4,019 first-year students of Altai State University! Within the walls of our university you will obtain fundamental classical education from the best teachers of Altai State University, take new educational programs and much more, which will give you the opportunity to become qualified specialists upon graduation. The main thing is that we will teach you to think creatively, work in a team, solve problems and achieve success. Altai State University is a research higher education establishment. Out modern laboratories host international teams of scientists implementing projects in the field of breakthrough scientific directions. ASU is an open university, where students from more than 30 countries of the world study. We are very proud of our international relations. 120 universities of the world support constant educational interaction with our university. All these opportunities will be opened to you, dear first-year students. This is a path to the successful realization of your abilities. Your successes and achievements are the future of Altai Krai and Russia!"

On this day, according to tradition, the best student of ASU presented the symbolic Key to Knowledge to the best entrant of the flagship university, while a huge student ID card was presented to all first-year students of the university. The morning celebration ended with sending balloons into the sky to the sounds of the well-known anthem of Altai State University.

The highlight of the Knowledge Day at Altai State University this year was a live broadcast of everything that happened in the University Courtyard to several large screens installed above the entrance to the main building of Altai State University. Before and after the morning event, the Department of Information and Media Communications interviewed teachers and students of the university in which the interviewers congratulated everyone on the beginning of the academic year and shared their impressions of what happened at the festive venues of the university.

The Knowledge Day traditionally continued with a large youth student open air event. At 6 p.m. all students of Barnaul, came to the University Courtyard to listen to the music groups of the university and the city presenting their best songs.
