The experience of Rubtsovsk Branch of ASU in introducing green practices has been named one of the best in Russia

The experience of Rubtsovsk Institute (Branch) of flagship Altai State University on the implementation of separate waste collection was included in the collection of academic articles “Environmental Initiatives in Russian Universities. Successful Practices and Guide to Action”.

The collection of articles presents successful cases and practical recommendations for the implementation of environmental initiatives and the promotion of eco-friendly lifestyle among students. It was created by the Association of "green" universities of Russia as part of the environmental quest.

The students of Rubtsovsk Institute have implemented separate waste collection on an ongoing basis. They installed a number of containers for collecting waste paper, PET plastic and glass. Thanks to the active environmental education work and the implementation of water conservation and energy saving practices on the basis of the university, the institute entered the world UI GreenMetric ranking.

“The ecologization of the university and the creation of a community of eco-active students were facilitated by the participation in the quests of the Green Universities of Russia program,” Deputy Director for Research at Rubtsovsk Institute (Branch) of ASU Natalya Kamyshnikova said. “This is a great start for the implementation of environmental initiatives at the university, as well as the opportunity to find like-minded people all over the country and achieve a common goal together.”

Among other universities whose experience is presented in the collection are St. Petersburg State University, Higher School of Economics, MGIMO, Kazan Federal University, M.V. Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University (Arkhangelsk), Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, Kozma Minin Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University, Southern Federal University (Rostov-on-Don) and others.

The Association of Green Universities of Russia is an all-Russian youth environmental association of universities that implement environmental practices and principles of sustainable development on their basis. The Association includes teams of 58 Russian universities. The Association was established during the implementation of the All-Russian Program “Green universities of Russia”, the purpose of which is to develop “green” administration on the basis of the participating universities and the implementation of student environmental initiatives. The program includes Russian student quests, in which more than 50 thousand students from 288 Russian universities took part.
