PIAC Secretary General Barbara Kellner-Heinkele will come to the Altaistic Forum at ASU

The grand opening of the First International Altaistic Forum will be held at Altai State University on September 12.

The main organizers are Altai State University and Gorno-Altaisk State University. The key objectives of the event include the formation of communications in the field of ethnic history, archaeology, ethnography, linguistics of the Turkic-Mongolian peoples; preservation and enhancement of the cultural heritage of the Turkic-Mongolian world, the natural potential of the Great Altai; mobilization of the intellectual resources of the Eurasian countries to create adequate scientific and analytical protection of the society from religious and national extremism, opposition to distorted interpretations of historical events.

The forum’s initiative aroused widespread scientific and public interest and was supported by the Office for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries of the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Federal 

Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation, the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

At the present moment, the most organizational and preparatory work for the forum has been completed. Participation in it was confirmed by more than 100 leading scientists representing universities, scientific and public 

organizations of Russia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Mongolia, the USA, Uzbekistan, Japan.

The high scientific level of the forum is confirmed by support from the Permanent International Altaistic Conference (PIAC), a key global scientific conference of scientists studying Altai, organized since 1957 in different countries. The latest 62nd PIAC conference was held on August 18–23 at Friedensau Adventist University (Germany).

The forum organizing committee also received a welcome letter from the PIAC Secretary General, Professor Barbara Kellner-Heinkele, who confirmed her arrival at Altai State University for the opening of the event.
