ASU scientist becomes a member of the Commission on Rare and Endangered Species of Animals, Plants and Mushrooms of the Red Book of the Russian Federation

For the first time, a zoologist from Altai State University joined the expert commission on the compilation of the Red Book of the Russian Federation. On December 1, 2019, the list of experts on terrestrial invertebrate animals at the Commission on Rare and Endangered Animals, Plants and Mushrooms was released as of November 26, 2019, which included Professor of the Department of Ecology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Doctor of Biology Roman V. Yakovlev.

The commission includes 23 specialists representing various academic, scientific and educational organizations: Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Cytology and Genetics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Systematics and Ecology of Animals of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, A.N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution, Moscow State University, Saratov State University, Southern Scientific Center, All-Russian Research Institute for Plant Protection, State Darwin Museum, etc.

“The expert section includes very strong and concerned scientists from different parts of the country. Joining the expert group will make it possible to implement a number of important points for the region: to be in the trend of environmental activities in the country, to defend the interests of the Great Altai region so that our unique properties are also awarded environmental status, later to participate in the work of groups of authors in the preparation of regional Red Books on a more professional level,” R.V. Yakovlev said.
