Foreign students of Altai State University go on a trip to Novosibirsk

20 December 2019 Preparatory Department of Russian as Foreign Language
On December 15, students of the Preparatory Department of Russian as Foreign Language, together with students and employees of Altai State University, visited the city of Novosibirsk.

The excursion program included a visit to Novosibirsk Planetarium (which has the third largest dome in Russia after St. Petersburg and Moscow), as well as Prince Igor opera at Novosibirsk Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.

At the planetarium, the students listened to a fascinating lecture on constellations. It was delivered by the planetarium director Sergei Maslikov himself. Two films about mystical, according to ordinary people, phenomena (such as Broken giants, phantoms, mirages), but completely explained by science, were also presented to the attention of the audience.

There is an interesting tradition in the planetarium: to greet every guest of Novosibirsk with applause. Thus, our listeners took turns calling the countries from which they came, and local residents gave a big hand for everyone. Undoubtedly, the students were very pleased.

The theater and the opera amazed our students! Moreover, three of them are professional musicians – lecturers at Shihezi University and future postgraduate students of the Faculty of Arts and Design at Altai State University.

The students also managed to practice the Russian language, as locals often approached them in order to take a photo or just chat. The students received a lot of compliments addressed to them, and when the locals learned that they had been learning the language for only two months, they were completely surprised.

Here is how ASU foreign students spent a day full of impressions, pleasant acquaintances and communication in Novosibirsk.
