Prombiotech Engineering Center of ASU has reached the level of full cycle project implementation

Prombiotech Engineering Center of Altai State University completed the installation and commissioning of the basic cycle for the development and production of pilot batches of biological preparations.

For the first time, ASU scientists completed the full cycle, from research to the production of pilot batches of products based on their own developments and their own strains of bacteria.

Today, the Center has a complete set of equipment, allowing to work out technological regimes and produce experimental batches of independently developed biological preparations.

“We do not always come up with drug ideas ourselves, but carry out specific orders from our industrial partners. So, for example, the other day we completed the execution of a contract with Arsal Company, a traditional exporter of shrimp feed (brine shrimp) to the countries of Southeast Asia and South America. The fact is that recently, shrimp in foreign markets is infected with pathogenic organisms. For its treatment, Chinese-made probiotic preparations are often used, which, as a rule, do not correspond to the declared quality. Therefore, the management of Arsal asked us to develop a probiotic drug that would solve this problem,” Sergey V. Pospelov, director of the Prombiotech Engineering Center, explained. “Having our own strains developed with the isolation of bacteria of the genus Bacillus from the rhizosphere of plants of Altai Krai and sponsored by the National Bioresource Center, we produced a drug with high antagonistic activity that helps to cope with harmful microorganisms. We tested it in laboratory conditions, tested experimental industrial technologies, and produced a consignment of 200 kilograms of product agreed with the customer.”

Sergey V. Pospelov noted that to date, the contract with Arsal has been fully completed, a report has been generated, a description of the production technology, qualitative characteristics of the product, recommendations for its use and industrial testing have been created. In the case of positive results of industrial tests of the drug, which will be performed by the customer, Prombiotech will enter into a long-term relationship with Arsal for the supply of highly effective probiotic drug to foreign markets.

"Prombiotech Engineering Center of Altai State University has created an experimental batch of probiotic for aquaculture, for which there is now a certain demand among our clients around the world. Now, we will deliver the probiotics produced by ASU scientists together with aquaculture to customers, we will wait for the result for about three months, and after that we will determine the probiotic production volumes, prices and other parameters, since according to our agreement with Prombiotech, the Engineering Center of Altai State University has the exclusive right to this product,” Artem A. Polomoshnov, financial director of Arsal, said.

Representative of Kemerovo Pharmaceutical Factory Alexander B. Kosteltsev also speaks about the first positive results of cooperation with Prombiotech. The center and the factory create a synbiotic product, which includes probiotics developed by the Kemerovo researchers and scientists of ASU. Currently, partners are preparing a registration dossier for three basic active substances, on the basis of which a line of competitive biological products will be formed, both for humans and for animals and plants. Companies are planning to announce the first results of joint registration of drugs in the next six months.

“Today, the world is witnessing a boom in biotechnology. And in Russia, everything is just beginning, and one of the pioneers of this trend in our country is Prombiotech of Altai State University. It has an active and competent team that feels the situation, therefore, in my opinion, ASU Engineering Center has a great future,” AB. Kosteltsev said. “Now we work together in three main areas: biologically active food additives for humans, feed for cattle, poultry and aquaculture, and fertilizers for the soil. In a word, what Prombiotech is doing now is our common future!”

Thus, at present, Prombiotech Engineering Center has reached the level of implementation of full-cycle projects based on its own drug development, having for this not only the most advanced technological base, but also a highly professional team of employees, as well as some experience in implementing contracts with all quantitative and qualitative characteristics.

“This is the point in the workflow when we have reached a new qualitative level, when we have become able to fully fulfill contractual obligations to industrial partners with high quality results,” S.V. Pospelov summed up.
