ASU Rector S.V. Zemlyukov delivers a speech at BRICS Global University Summit

ASU rector, chairman of Rectors’ Council of Altai Krai and Altai Republic Sergey V. Zemlyukov was invited to participate in BRICS Global University Summit, an official event organized by Russia’s Presidency in BRICS in 2015-2016.

The Summit has started its work on October 26 and hosts over 400 representatives of the leading BRICS universities, international organizations and research centers. The speakers of the event include the ministers for foreign affairs and education of Russia, as well as the heads of ministries and departments, the activities scope of which is the subject of collaboration in the framework of BRICS. The Summit Special Session will be dedicated to the university science and hold a discussion with the presence of the ministers of science of BRICS countries.

Sergey V. Zemlyukov is a speaker of the “Education in BRICS countries. BRICS Network University” plenary session that is organized in the framework of the “Education and Life Quality in BRICS countries” workshop on Wednesday, October 28. ASU Rector is delivering a speech on the experience in networking cooperation between Asian universities and BRICS University prospects. There he will tell the audience about ASU operations in the framework of SCO University and Asian Universities Association. The main idea of the report is that ASU experience in this area should be taken into account when establishing the BRICS Network University.

The session will also include the reports of Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia rector V.M. Filippov, vice-director of Ministry of Education and Science International Department B.V. Zhelezov, rectors and vice-rectors of Russian higher education establishments, embassies’ representatives and BRICS universities staff members.

Currently, the BRICS Network University formation is at the final stage. The organization is going to represent the cooperation between the leading universities of Russia, China, Brazil, India and South African Republic. The main objective of the project is to create a unified education area in BRICS. The University’s activities will be oriented to relevant educational programs implementation, lecturers and scientists training, joint research conduction. The universities’ mission is to combine member-countries’ professional staff and research potential.
