The voting is held by Russian version of popular men’s magazine GQ. One of the nominations, where the Shubenkov’s name is included, is called “Sportsman of the Year”. GQ editors write the following words about the athlete from Barnaul:

“The thing that had hurt this sprinter from Barnaul the most was the ban of Russian athletics team from the Olympic games. In summer 2015 Shubenkov became the champion in men's 110 m hurdles and passed all the doping tests successfully, but he cannot overcome the hurdle on his way to Rio – 2016.”

It is to be reminded, that Sergey Shubenkov graduated from the Faculty of Law of Altai State University in 2012, when he defended his graduate project on “Private-law control of international air transportation”. His name is on the list of the best sportsmen and sport teams of ASU.
