The meeting of participants of International Forum of Asian Youth Leaders “Altai-Asia 2016” and representatives of Altai Krai Administration took place yesterday at Altai State University.

Consultant of the Internal Policy Department  under Altai Krai Administration Oksana E. Noyanzina greeted young people of 10 foreign countries on behalf of the region’s authorities. The participants got acquainted with Altai past, present and future, its resource potential and capabilities with the help of the presentational movie about the region. After watching it Oksana E. Noyanzina told the audience about ethnic demography of Altai Krai and peoples living on its territory.

Further, representative of Altai Krai Administration and ASU vice-rector for international affairs development Roman I. Raikin answered the forum participants’ questions. Young leaders were particularly interested in the export of the region’s dairy and metallurgic products, reforestation, environmental security, governmental policy in education and other issues.

At the end of the meeting the delegate from India, lecturer in Russian of Aligarh Muslim University Ravinder Singh suggested adopting the law, which would decide that every tourist, who visits Altai Krai, must bring a tree with them for the purpose of environmental protection.

Oksana Noyanzina thanked the guest for the interesting proposition and explained that they did not have the right to oblige tourists to plant trees on the region’s territory. However, such actions can be stimulated. The bright example is the alley of cedars planted near ASU building by the participants of the VIII Week of SCO Countries’ Education and the V Meeting of SCO Countries’ Ministers.

It is to be reminded that the International Forum of Asian Youth Leaders “Altai-Asia 2016” is conducted jointly by Altai State University and Rossotrudnichestvo Agency for the third time. The event, which is organized in the framework of “Generation Next” program, is aimed at short-term visiting of young specialists in politic, humanitarian, cultural and educational spheres to Russia.
