Representatives of Microsoft and IBM will participate in International Conference on Big Data at ASU

Altai State University will for the first time host grand-scale International Student Conference on Big Data and Machine Learning, in the framework of which Youth IT School of the Association of Asian Universities will be organized as well.

Scientific forum supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation will gather students, postgraduates, young scientists and lecturers at Altai State University.

Conference participants will include such world leaders in information technologies as IBM, Microsoft, Mail.Ru Group, Yandex, and EMS. Representatives of these companies will tell the guests of the forum about the most promising work directions in the area of big data processing and retention.

“We are working on organization of a conference on an extremely relevant topic in the area of information technologies. Our forum is a significant event not only for Altai State University, but for the whole IT community of Altai Krai. A lot of people have already shown their interest in it,” noted representative of organization committee, Head of ASU IT Department Mikhail A. Ryazanov.

Representative of Mail.Ru Group, leading analyst at Odnoklassniki.Ru social network, expert at ML Boot Camp Dmitry Bugaychenko will teach the forum participants how to handle tasks on machine learning and big data analysis. Representative of Microsoft Anton Vatov will tell the audience about one of the company’s platforms, which can be used for solving problems in machine learning. ASU graduate, leading developer at Yandex Health Mikhail Payson will present the opportunities of big data usage in areas connected with medicine. IBM company will show Watson analytical platform, which is used as a system for machine learning and big data processing. Other speakers will also present interesting and useful information.

According to Mikhail A. Ryazanov, the first day of the conference will be dedicated to speeches of vendors and representatives of IT-companies. On the second day conference participants will try to solve real case problems using big data. On the third day student hackathon will take place. ASU IT Department will demonstrate how to work with real big data in the framework of the hackathon. For this purpose every participant of the conference is to receive a fitness tracker, data from which will be sent to the university database and processed. The final part of the conference will be a game dedicated to big data.
