ASU scales up scientific and educational cooperation with Chinese universities

On 19–21 April 2017 Altai State University received a delegation from Hainan Foreign Language College (China). Their visit was aimed at extension of cooperation between the two universities.

The higher educational establishments have been realizing academic mobility programs for the last few years. Students of Hainan Foreign Language College majoring in Philology come to ASU in the framework of joint educational program. Thus, 10 students of Chinese university successfully completed bachelor’s degree courses in Linguistics and received their certificates at ASU in June 2016.

The meeting took place at the International Affairs Department under Altai State University. Chinese delegates met with Vice Rector for International Affairs Development Roman I. Raikin. They reached an agreement on expansion in the number of Chinese students undergoing training at Altai State University and discussed mechanisms of cooperation in realization of joint educational programs.

After the meeting at the International Affairs Department the delegates were hospitably received by lecturers and employees of the Department of Russian as Foreign Language. The eventful program included presentations, meetings with lecturers and students, excursion around Barnaul and other interesting activities that showed broad opportunities for cooperation to the colleagues from Hainan.

In the course of negotiations the parties agreed on expanding the variety of majors at the Faculty of Mass Communication, Philology and Political Science for Chinese students. From now on students from China will not only take traditional course in Linguistics but also a course in Advertising and Public Relations.

Moreover, the guests from Hainan Foreign Language College got interested in programs in Tourism, as both Altai Krai and Hainan are popular tourist destinations. Realization of joint programs in tourism is desirable for both parties.

Subsequent to the results of the visit, Altai State University and Hainan Foreign Language College agreed to continue working on implementation of the agreements reached.
