ASU expands cooperation with the universities of Kazakhstan

On January 30-31, a delegation of natural science faculties of Altai State University paid a working visit to Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan State University (Ust-Kamenogorsk) and S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.

Within the framework of international cooperation enhancement program carried out by Altai State University and foreign partners, the representatives of three faculties of ASU (Faculty of Physics and Technology, Faculty of Geography, Faculty of Mathematics and IT) visited the universities of Kazakhstan. The delegation of Altai State University included: Dean of the Faculty of Geography, Candidate of Geography, Assistant Professor N.I. Bykov; Doctor of Geography, Assistant Professor, Head of the Department of Economic Geography and Cartography A.N. Dunets; Candidate of Geography, Assistant Professor, Head of the Department of Recreational Geography, Tourism and Regional Marketing A.G. Redkin; Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Head of the Department of General and Experimental Physics V.A. Plotnikov; Candidate of Technical Sciences, Assistant Professor, Head of the Department of Theoretical Cybernetics and Applied Mathematics L.A. Khvorova. On January 30 they visited Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan State University in Ust-Kamenogorsk. On January 31, the delegation of Altai State University went to S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.

The main purpose of the visit was further development of integration ties in international educational, scientific and cultural space, as well as intensification of scientific and educational cooperation between universities, including that through the Association of Asian Universities.

During the meeting, the inter-faculty agreements on cooperation between ASU and S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University were signed.

The agreement allows lecturers to undergo postgraduate studies at Altai State University, carry out double-degree master's programs, participate in academic exchange programs, develop joint research projects, develop mutually integrated educational programs and participate in scientific and practical conferences on the premises of Altai State University.

For information, the agreement on cooperation between S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University and Altai State University was signed in 2015. Joint work within the framework of the agreement is already carried out in such areas as Philology, Tourism, Geography, etc.

The delegation of Altai State University got interested in the archaeological finds of A. Margulan Scientific Center and visited S. Beisembayev Scientific Library and International Startup Academy, assessing the creative approach towards training.

Dean of the Faculty of Geography N.I. Bykov commented on the opportunities for further cooperation with the universities of Kazakhstan:

"First and foremost, we met with the colleagues. We saw their possibilities. We discussed the prospects for education in general. Kazakhstan is our neighbor, and the objects of our research are the same: Altai or Kulunda, for example. With Pavlodar University, we already have a double-degree master’s program in tourism. We are going to move on. We have agreed on the exchange of lecturers, academic mobility. We will submit joint applications for grants!"

It is to be reminded that in the speech at the plenary session of the XIV Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Russia and Kazakhstan, held November 8-9, 2017 in Chelyabinsk, Russian President V.V. Putin confirmed the prospects for expanding cooperation between the universities of Russia, in particular, Altai State University, with the universities of Kazakhstan.
