From March 5 to 10, 2018, the delegation consisting of staff of the Department of Archeology, Ethnography and Museology and the Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Archaeological Studies of Western Siberia and Altai under Altai State University visited Dushanbe.

The main reason was an invitation from A. Donish Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography under the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan to participate in the International Scientific Round Table "Tajikistan – Russia: Relevant Issues of Archeology and Ethnography".

The event was held at the Institute of Oriental Studies under the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. The following reports were presented: "Altai in the Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age: Cultural and Chronological Dynamics" by A.A. Tishkin; "Ethno-Cultural Processes in the Early Bronze Age on the Border of Central Asia and the South of Western Siberia: the Elunin and Chemurchek Cultures" by S.P. Grushin and "Results and Opportunities of the Study of Archaeological Culture of the Turks of Altai and Adjacent Territories" by N.N. Seregin.

The forum was also attended by Russian colleagues from Moscow and Novosibirsk, who had already been working in Central Asia for several years.

In addition to the conference, meetings and negotiations took place. ASU historians managed to visit the opening of the Museum of Ethnography, see the National Museum and other institutions with archaeological expositions. Important work was carried out in the holdings of the Institute.

Professor A.A. Tishkin, Head of the Department of Archeology, Ethnography and Museology, Doctor of History, commented on the event:

"ASU archaeologists purposefully visited Tajikistan for the first time in order to consider various possibilities for cooperation and form a joint scientific program with researchers from the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography under the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. Negotiations carried out in a constructive manner allow the preparation of a relevant agreement. Dushanbe, Tajikistan and people, who live there, have left a positive general impression on us."
