The project of Altai State University entitled “Technology for the Production of Protein and Peptide Isolates from Grain of Various Types of Lupine as Biologically Active Ingredients of Functional Foods Intended for Mass Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases” received the support of the Innovation Promotion Fund following the results of the competition in the framework of the “START” program.

Within the framework of the project, the supervisor of which is the Candidate of Biology Yana Bulgakova, it is planned to develop a new technology for the production of protein isolates for use in the food industry. The amount of grant support will be 2 million rubles.

Olga Vysotskaya, director of the Center for Development of Technological Entrepreneurship, Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Management, notes that this project is unique, as its team is represented by scientists and specialists from several Russian cities: Barnaul (Altai State University), Bryansk (All-Russian Research and Development Institute of Lupine), Novosibirsk (Institute of Cytology and Genetics under Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk State Agrarian University, Siberian Federal Scientific Center for Agrobiotechnology under the Russian Academy of Sciences) and St. Petersburg. All project participants are united by one common goal – the development of new technologies for obtaining dietary protein from alternative sources.

It is to be reminded that the “START” program of the Innovation Promotion Fund supports start-ups at the initial stage of development. For example, in 2018, scientists and employees of Altai State University received 5 grants totaling 10,000,000 rubles.
