The Governor of Altai Krai rewarded ASU scientists for working on the Red Book of Altai Krai

On November 28, Altai Krai Administration held a ceremony of awarding the winners of the regional prize in the field of science and technology. The scientists of Altai State University were also rewarded for their research.

The Governor of Altai Krai Viktor P. Tomenko and the Chairman of Altai Krai Legislative Assembly Alexander A. Romanenko took part in the ceremony of honoring the laureates.

“In the modern knowledge-based economy, science is a real productive force. In the address to the Federal Assembly at the beginning of this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that at present “global competition is shifting more and more to the field of science, technology, and education”. Therefore, the development of science today is one of the conditions for our progress, successful competition at the global level and, in the long run, our national security. According to the President, "enormous guaranteed demand for industrial and high-tech products is now forming in Russia". A certain incentive for the development of many industries, including scientific thought, is now national projects. Enormous amounts of funds are allocated for their implementation at the state level,” Viktor Tomenko emphasized in his welcoming speech.

The winners of the 2019 competition were 15 works, 48 people became laureates. The scientists of Altai State University became winners in the “Solving Ecology and Nature Conservation Problems” nomination. The team of ASU scientists, including Alexander I. Shmakov, Elena V. Shapetko, Viktor Yu. Petrov, Nadezhda L. Irisova, Valery B. Zhuravlev, Aleksey G. Inozemtsev, Tatiana A. Terekhina, Natalia V. Ovcharova and Evgeny A. Davydov, took part in working on the Red Book of Altai Krai, which included the list of threatened species, and made a great contribution to the science of ecology.

It has become a good tradition that scientists of Altai State University become winners of the regional prize in the field of science and technology. This, of course, is the evidence of the purposeful and intensive work that is being carried out at the flagship university in the field of science. ASU scientists are guided by national and international projects, as well as by the needs of the region.
