The delegation of Altai State University took part in the Kick-Off Symposium that was held in Kanazawa University (Japan) within the framework of the Inter-University Exchange Project (Russia) funded by the Government of Japan.

Executive Director of the Russian-American Anti-Cancer Center under Altai State University, Candidate of Biology Andrei I. Shapoval, who headed the delegation, noted that the symposium appeared to be a starting point for implementation of a five-year project on the exchange of students between Kanazawa University and universities and scientific centers of Russia.

Altai State University has been cooperating with Kanazawa University for several years within the framework of the inter-university agreement, which provides for annual short-term exchange programs and a number of other areas of interaction. One of them was the invitation of ASU to the symposium.

"It was announced at the forum that the "Silk Road of Knowledge" will be built between the participants of the project, which will start at Kanazawa University and will unite the universities of Vladivostok, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Barnaul, Kazan, St. Petersburg, as well as Tatarstan Clinical Oncology Center and Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences," Andrei Shapoval said. “In the framework of the symposium, each of the participants presented their educational institutions, so I dwelled upon the most significant events organized by Altai State University on our initiative, educational, scientific and student forums held annually at the university, joint projects realized by our archaeologists, biologists and physicists together with Japanese scientists and so on. During the forum we visited the Cancer Research Institute of Kanazawa University and presented our achievements in the field cancer research.”

As a result of the symposium it was determined that around 100 students from Russia, including ones from Altai State University, will be able to visit Kanazawa University in the framework of the Inter-University Exchange Project (Russia). Altai State University will also be visited by student from Japan, and other joint programs will be implemented.
