On November 9, Altai State University was visited by Gulvayra Kutsenko, a member of the Council for Interethnic Relations under the Russian President and Head of the Interregional Network of Indigenous Minorities in Russia.

The guest from Moscow arrived at ASU to participate in the autumn session of the Russian Expert School. During the event, Gulvayra Kutsenko presented a project implemented by L’auravetl’an, the Information and Education Network of Indigenous Peoples. The main goal of the project, which was supported by the Foundation for Presidential Grants, is to talk about the traditional lifestyle and culture of the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation as an integral part of the ethnic and cultural diversity of Russia.

Before the beginning of the session, she met with Roman I. Raikin, the Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development at ASU. Gulvayra Kutsenko noted that the organizations that she represented, especially the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations, are interested in cooperation with Altai State University. In particular, university students can have an internship at the Council.

“In addition, I leave open the possibility of implementing joint projects between ASU and the Council, as well as the information and education network of indigenous peoples, for example, in the sphere of international activities. I know that your university is a member of the Association of Asian Universities. In this context, we can find points of contact in the field of educational projects in the field of international activity, where young professionals may be attracted,” Gulvayra Kutsenko added.

Roman I. Raikin also drew attention to a number of areas for possible cooperation. He stressed that the university was not only a member in the Association of Asian Universities (which brings together 70 universities from nine countries), but also in the SCO University.

“Within the framework of the SCO University, we actively attract students for master's programs, many of which have a cultural and value component associated with intercultural communication. Every year, as part of the New Generation program, implemented under the auspices of Rossotrudnichestvo, we hold the International Forum for Young Leaders of Asian Countries. We hope that next year the forum will become larger and will be held on the basis of one of the major regional events. We would be happy if the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations acted as a co-organizer. At the same time, we are ready to hold events of any level at the site of our university. In other words, we have many opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation,” Roman I. Raikin concluded.

At the end of the meeting an exchange of gifts took place. Gulvayra Kutsenko contributed to the foundation of the Museum of the Association of Asian Universities by presenting the Atlas of Cultures and Religions "Peoples of Russia" to ASU. During the tour around the museum, the guest highly appreciated the diversity of the exposition, which contains national costumes, musical instruments, utensils of the Asian peoples and much more.
