Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Novosibirsk Dr. Peter Blomeyer visited ASU

On April 3, the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Novosibirsk, Dr. Peter Blomeyer, paid an official visit to flagship Altai State University.

The Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany was accompanied by coordinator for the protocol and relations with the regions Svetlana F. Vinokurova, foreign relations and protocol specialists of Administration of the Governor and Government of Altai Krai Maxim E. Tatarkin and Margarita A. Lobanova, specialist of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Barnaul Margarita Yu. Ardyakova.

The meeting began with a discussion of the prospects for cooperation between Altai State University and scientific and educational organizations in Germany, about which Dr. Blomeyer and Acting Rector of ASU, Sergey N. Bocharov. In particular, the head of the university focused the attention of the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany on the main areas of cooperation and expressed hope for the support of joint initiatives from the General Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Novosibirsk. Mr. Blomeyer described the areas of work that he supervised and noted that he was aware of the successful cooperation between ASU and partners from Germany, mentioning the Kulunda project, and the Erasmus+ project.

The meeting continued at a round table in the reading room of the Presidential Library, where Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development Roman I. Raikin delivered a speech with a brief description of the university and its international activities with a focus on cooperation with Germany. Then, in his turn, Mr. Blomeyer focused on the responsibility and the field of activity of the Consulate General in Novosibirsk, and also mentioned the active work in Barnaul of the Russian-German house and the characteristics of the German national region located in Altai Krai.

A description of projects on Russian-German cooperation carried out at ASU was made by Assistant Professor of the Department of Economic Geography and Cartography, Candidate of Geography N.I. Bykov, Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Candidate of Biology M.M. Silantyeva, Assistant Professor of the Department of Physical Geography and Geographic Information Systems, Candidate of Geography I.N. Rotanova. As suggestions, ideas were expressed about creating a platform for informational support of Russian-German cooperation (M.M. Silantyeva), searching for grant support for works in the field of studying climate change (N.I. Bykov), works in the field of Silk Road projects (I.N. Rotanova).

R.I. Raikin noted the importance of expanding the programs of academic exchanges between the Russian Federation and the Federal Republic of Germany, cooperation in the field of altaism, as well as the possibility of interaction with the German business implementing investment projects in the field of agriculture in Altai Krai.
