16 December 2017 International Affairs Department

On December 4–8 Head of the Department of Russian as Foreign Language and Oriental Linguistics, Doctor of Philology, Professor Lidiya M. Dmitriyeva and employee of ASU International Affairs Department Ksenia A. Ulyanova made a trip to Changchun, the capital of Jilin province, China, where they visited a couple of partner universities: Jilin Russian Language Institute, a long-time partner of Altai State University, and Jilin University, a partner in the SCO University.

During the meeting with Dean of the Faculty of Russian language at Jilin University Liu Zuo Yang, the first stage of coordinating the curricula of Linguistics educational program was held, so next year not only graduate students, but also undergraduates will be able to come to ASU. During the negotiations with Rector of Jilin Russian Language Institute Li Chang, an agreement on the implementation of a joint educational program in the field of Linguistics was reached. Head of International Relations Office Li Xue Yuan agreed to undergo a scientific internship at Altai State University in September 2018.

The main event appeared to be the opening of the first basic school under Altai State University in the secondary school № 1 of the Zhuozi County (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China). At the opening ceremony K.A. Ulyanova presented the faculties and training programs carried out at Altai State University to Chinese schoolchildren, and told them about Barnaul and Altai Krai. Director of the school Shi Yan Dong and L.M. Dmitriyeva exchanged gift textbooks on the Russian language in a solemn atmosphere. Thus, the ranks of foreign students of Altai State University will be annually joined by Chinese entrants who have a good command of Russian.

An important part of the trip was the speaking practice for pupils of the basic school under Altai State University. L.M. Dmitrieva also delivered a series of lectures on the Russian language in the aspect of cultural linguistics at Jilin Russian Language Institute. There she presented an author method of teaching Russian as a foreign language, which aroused keen interest among Chinese colleagues. The classes were held in the framework of the project "Organization and Conduct of the International Competition on the Russian Language and Literature" of the Federal Target Program "The Russian Language". As known, Altai State University is one of the leading universities executing the projects under the Federal Target Program "The Russian Language", so the trip turned out to be effective in terms of implementing this program.
