II International Russian-Japanese School for Young Researchers starts at Altai State University

The flagship university of Altai Krai receives a large delegation from Saitama University (Japan) for the second time. It consists of 5 lecturers, 4 students and 10 schoolchildren aged 16-17 years, who are going to study natural science at Saitama University. The event started with an excursion around Altai State University, its museums and laboratories, after which a meeting with the university executives, students and youth leaders was organized.

"Despite many years of cooperation between individual university scientists, Altai State University and Saitama University have been actively working together since 2015. In 2016, the I Russian-Japanese Research School was held at Altai State University and now we are holding the second once, which is attended not only by lecturers and students of Saitama University, but also by schoolchildren, the prospective students of Saitama University," Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development of Altai State University, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Roman I. Raikin noted.

The Government of Japan has recently been actively funding academic mobility programs for schoolchildren and students, since, according to Roman I. Raikin, it is concerned about the low level of mobility of modern youth and the internationalization of the educational system.

Prior to Barnaul, the Japanese delegation visited Novosibirsk Academgorodok, and after visiting Altai State University plans to go to Irkutsk State University.

In accordance with the program of the International Russian-Japanese School, young researchers will participate in Tourism in Transboundary Regions educational and excursion module with a trip to the resort town of Belokurikha, and also attend the popular science express lecture entitled "Cosmic Rays, the Wanderers of the Universe".
