Altai State University negotiates on cooperating with one of the leading universities of China

On August 24 Altai State University held negotiations negotiations on cooperation with the representatives of one of the leading universities of the People's Republic of China, Tsinghua University.

The meeting hosted director for International Relations at the Research Institute of Tsinghua University Xu Jing, CEO at Coway Company initiated by Tsinghua University Liu Jianping, President at the Union for Russian Science Cities Development, Director at the Troitsk Innovative Cluster Victor Sidnev, Chairman at the Public Chamber Council of Altai Krai Pavel Tulin, and representatives of Altai State University: Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Development Evgeni Popov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development Roman Raikin, director of Director of Prombiotech Engineering Center Sergey Pospelov, and leading researcher at Altai Center for Applied Biotechnology Dmitri Durnikin.

"At the meeting we discussed possible areas of cooperation with Tsinghua University with a priority in biotechnology, up to the industrial production of biological products. Altai State University intends to take charge of research in this project,” Roman Raikin noted. “We have agreed that Altai State University and Tsinghua University proceed with consultancy support and start active implementation of the joint biotechnological project from 2018 onward. The Chinese partners have established a project implementation period of 2 years."

Tsinghua University, founded in 1911, is a part of the C9 League, an official alliance of nine universities in mainland China, and constantly ranks first in the National Ranking of Chinese Universities. There are a lot of notable scientists, artists and politicians among the graduates of the university, including the last two General Secretaries of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China – Hu Jintao and Xi Jinping. The university is also famous for its beautiful campus, which is built on the site of the former Shui Mu Tsinghua Imperial Park in the northwestern part of Beijing.
