ASU took active part in The VII All-Russian Science Festival in Barnaul

Ceremonial opening of The VII All-Russian Science Festival took place on 13 October 2017 in Altai Krai Drama Theater in Barnaul.

Altai State University acted as an organizer of 11 project sites out of 50 ones presented at the theater. Moreover, ASU prepared a pleasant surprise for all the guests of the festival. Square in front of the theater hosted painters, musicians and poets. Students from ASU Faculty of Art made portraits of everyone who wanted to, young guitar players sang different songs. The guests could also make instant photos with the university emblem.

Project sites were divided into three topic-related areas, where Altai State University presented its developments in the framework of the main theme of the festival – Big Data.

“Altai State University presented a number of interesting IT projects in such areas as software, digital currency, big data, agriculture, neurotechnologies, biomedicine and robotics. Everyone knows that we have to switch over to Russian software by 2018, so scientists of our university develop a number of projects in order to gradually solve this problem,” ASU Rector Sergey V. Zemlyukov noted. “One of the main objectives of the All-Russian Festival is to catch the interest of pupils and attract as many as possible young people to science. That is why our festival sites were oriented at the young researchers’ interests and demonstrated achievements in robotics and computer technologies. Our scientists also presented new directions in the area of developments for agriculture, oncologic disease prevention, and cerebral physiology. All the sites arouse the strong interest of pupils and young researchers.”

Sites of Altai State University were also visited by Altai Krai Governor, Chairman of Altai Krai Government Alexander Karlin, Vice Chairmen of Altai Krai Government Nadezhda Kapura and Victor Meshcheryakov, Minister of Education and Science in Altai Krai Alexander Zhidkikh. They made a note of the great variety in university’s IT developments oriented to handling of economic problems in the region.

“The science festival has been carried out in the year of Altai Krai 80th anniversary. Universities, scientific and research institutes, engineering bureaus and industrial enterprises have made great contribution to the history of the region. Altai Krai has a clear understanding of the fact that growing number of young scientists is a main factor for effective modernization of economic and social spheres. Today we should combine the pursuance of research with training of the new generation that will develop and implement digital and intellectual technologies in industry, medicine agriculture and education,” Altai Krai Governor emphasized. “In our region we expand the assortment of additional education programs for children, search for talented young people and create environment that would be effective in shaping of innovative thinking. In particular, Altai State University realizes Success Ladder project aimed at support of gifted children and students. Other universities of Altai Krai also work with pupils.”

In the framework of the festival opening Altai Krai Governor delivered awards and prizes to the winners of Russian and international competitions and grants.

On 14 October 2017 The VII All-Russian Science Festival continued continued working on the premises of Altai State University. ASU carried out around 60 events, including masterclasses, open lectures and presentations. The festival guests also visited university museums.
