ASU entered educational collaboration of the universities of Russia and Norway
On February 12, it became known that Centre for International University Cooperation of the Norwegian Council for Higher Education (SIU) announced the results of the competition to support academic exchange projects and international cooperation between the universities of Norway and Russia.
Only three classical universities of Siberia managed to enter the list of 11 winning higher educational establishments of Russia. They include Novosibirsk State University, Tomsk State University and Altai State University.
ASU has been included in the team of Russian partners of the project entitled "Norwegian-Russian Working Group for the Training of Entomologists of the New Generation" coordinated by Altai State University in the name of Professor of the Department of Ecology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Doctor of Biology Roman Yakovlev and Senior Researcher of the Laboratory for Fundamental and Applied Zoology at the Faculty of Biology of Altai State University, Candidate of Biology Elena Guskova.
"A well-known Norwegian entomologist, native of Russia Vladimir Gusarov, specializing in the molecular taxonomy of insects, invited us to become partners in the project for the training of young entomologists, since there are young people in Altai State University who are ready to participate in this kind of project," Roman Yakovlev said. “This is an educational project that opens great prospects for teaching young people innovative methods of working with biological material. I think that we will be able to train at least five young scientists at the expense of the Norwegian side."
According to Roman Yakovlev, the fact that ASU has been included in the Norwegian-Russian project gives evidence of the international recognition of the strong scientific group of biologists that was formed in the classical university of Altai Krai.
Apart from Altai State University, the project hosts All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Protection, the Moscow Pedagogical State University, Federal Scientific Center for Biodiversity of the Ground Biota of East Asia under FEB RAS, Institute for Ecology of Mountain Territories under RAS and Kuban State Agrarian University.
