Progress of Asian universities in international rankings was discussed at the III Assembly of the Association of Asian Universities
On September 20, the issues of university advancement in international rankings were discussed at Altai State University in the framework of the III Assembly of the Association of Asian Universities and the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference with International Participation "Development of the Educational Space at Regional Universities as a Priority Project of the Russian Federation: Best Practices".
The online session was attended by experts representing the most reputable ranking agencies:
- Zoya Zaitseva – Regional Director of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (presentation);
- Michael Caruana – Regional Director of Times Higher Education for Europe and Middle East (presentation) ;
- Nick Davis – Strategic Solutions Director of Times Higher Education;
- Oleg Solovyev – Editor of Round University Ranking;
- Alexey Chaplygin, Project Manager of Interfax News Agency, National Universities Rankings Team.
The speakers discussed the performance of Russian and Central Asian universities in the rankings, as well as the opportunities and mechanisms for their promotion. As general recommendations for universities in the Asian educational space, experts suggested paying attention to subject and place rankings, making fuller use of the potential of the Association of Asian Universities to enhance the academic reputation of the universities of the association.
The theme aroused a lively response from the event participants, and a number of proposals were made to continue discussing this issue in various formats.
