INGEO students and schoolchildren from Barnaul restore the Yubileiny Park under the federal project “Sirius. Summer"
Work on the project began in November 2021 and will be completed in May 2022 on the territory of the Yubileiny Park of Culture and Leisure Park.
Theoretical classes are supervised by Head of the key center for additional education for children "Viktor Vereshchagin House of Scientific Collaboration" of AltSU Inessa Polyakova. Schoolchildren receive new knowledge and skills in the field of geography and related sciences: soil science, hydrology, geomorphology, biogeography, and economics. The students mastered the topics necessary for working on the project under the guidance of mentors, 2nd-year students of the Institute of Geography Elena Ivolgina and Nikita Karkunov.
Practical classes are held in the park. A comprehensive zoning of the territory has already been carried out, and work has begun on creating a model of the park. At the same time, work is underway to write grants for the creation of a year-round cafe-greenhouse, for cleaning up the Pivovarka River, which flows through the park, and for landscaping.
“I am participating in the project to restore the Yubileiny Park. We haven't been on the project that long, but I already like it. We get a lot of new knowledge in an interesting way. Thanks to the university for this opportunity. I think that it will only get better in the future, because we work in a cool team, learning a lot of informative things!” says Sofya Golovanova, 10th grader of school No. 120.
“I really like working in our team. Classes are very interesting and exciting. Thanks to the university! I will continue to develop our project,” Vladislav Sirotin, 10th grade student of school No. 120, shares his impressions.
“I want to study at Altai State University, so I took part in this project. I am sure that work in the project will give me basic knowledge in creating geographic maps and much more. I liked the theme of this project. I am pleased that the Institute of Geography gave me the opportunity to join the project and study with other children,” says tenth-grader Vladimir Volkov.
All the guys are students of the specialized class of the Institute of Geography.
