1 August 2022 Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies

From August 25 to September 22, 2022, the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies of AltSU will become the platform for the country's largest competition for IT specialists “Digital Breakthrough. Season: artificial intelligence." The organizer of the competition is the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the operator is ANO "Russia - the Land of Opportunities", the organizational partner is the Russian Association of Electronic Communications (RAEC).

“Digital breakthrough. Season: Artificial Intelligence is a series of three district hackathons, 25 solicitations and three all-Russian championships, as well as educational events that take place throughout Russia. The project has become a merger of the Hackathons and Lectures on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Breakthrough competitions.

The main goals of the project are to popularize artificial intelligence technologies in Russia among young professionals and students, form an IT community with a focus on artificial intelligence, stimulate the creation of AI-based solutions, and create AI-based solutions for business and the public sector. IT specialists, university students and high school students (from 14 years old) who want to develop in the field of developing solutions based on artificial intelligence technologies are invited to participate in the project. You can take part in all competition events.

The regional championship, which will be hosted by IMIT, is part of the project, which is an individual competition for solving a problem using machine learning, AI, processing large data arrays, data analysis and the formation of managerial decisions in the field of artificial intelligence.

The winners and prize-winners in each regional championship will be the first 15 participants, according to the published final leaderboard, the prize fund of the entire project in 2022 is 100 million rubles. Citizens of all regions of the Russian Federation and, in particular, Altai Krai participate in the regional championship.

From August 25 to September 22, the participants of the regional championship in Altai Krai will have to solve a problem related to the management of the educational process. The task is to predict the status of a university student based on the data provided in the dataset. The constructed model will act as a management decision support system at the stage of the university admission campaign, will help predict a successful graduation of a student from the university, thanks to which the university will be able to plan its budgetary and extrabudgetary funding more efficiently. This problem was created by the teachers and students of the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies of Altai State University: Denis Kozlov, Olga Krotova, and Roman Panarin. In addition, another of the institute's tasks, dedicated to data-driven business process management of the company, was highly appreciated by the organizers of the competition and will be proposed for decision at the All-Russian Championship, which will be held in the fall.

The Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies has a great backlog in the development of AI technologies and big data analysis. In 2020, within the framework of an agreement between AltSU and the NTI Competence Center in the field of “Big Data Storage and Analysis Technologies”, our institute opened the NTI Regional Competence Center on the basis of Lomonosov Moscow State University. The Center is fully consistent with the ideology of national projects and those instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, which are presented in the national development goals of the Russian Federation and for the development of science and the development of talents. Therefore, our institute never stays aside from projects that contribute to the formation and development of the IT community and increase the recognition of the region and the university in the digital transformation and maturity agenda. This year, we provided organizational support to the Digital Breakthrough. Season: Artificial Intelligence” and now I hope that the residents of the region, who are passionate about modern technologies, students and university applicants, will take an active part in the competition, win and receive well-deserved prizes. Moreover, even lack of experience is not a reason to refuse participation. Participation in the championship will help to understand what knowledge is not enough to participate in such events, which, in turn, will allow you to prepare for them in the future. In addition, now, within the framework of the educational block of the project, training tasks are being analyzed and master classes are being held from expert mentors” said Evgeny Zhuravlev, Director of IMIT.
