The 2025 issues (XVI–XVII) of the scientific publication Terra Scimus commemorate Barnaul’s 295th anniversary, featuring contributions from scholars and young researchers affiliated with two departments of the Institute of Humanities: the Department of General and Applied Philology, Literature and Russian Language, and the Department of Journalism, Media, and Advertising.

These works analyze Barnaul’s contemporary status in the context of functioning as a relational space and explore its features of perception and portrayal in literary texts and memoirs. To align with the anniversary theme, the issues incorporate both republished articles and previously unpublished materials, including submissions from young researchers who participated in the XXVI conference “Youth to Barnaul.”

The authors of scientific works published in issues 16–17 of Terra Scimus aim to construct an accurate interpretive framework for the city, reflecting their philosophical worldview and perception of the city of Barnaul, which is located on the banks of a river that is historically labeled as “Boronoul” or “Boronour” in 17th-century cartographic records.

A thoughtful reader will be able to reflect together with the authors on Barnaul imagology (section I, authors V. V. Desyatov, A. I. Kulyapin, E. A. Moskvina, N. V. Khalina), functional contexts of the city as a dynamic artifact (section II, authors M. P. Grebneva, E. A. Moskovkina, A. A. Borovikov, M. A. Deminova), the place of urban space in the system of cross-cultural communications and communication marketing (section III, authors Yu. G. Shirman, S. S. Tyutenkov, Moylid Mohamed Taher, L. M. Komissarova, E. Sandakova, N. V. Khalina), mentally participate in the creation of cultural iconography of Barnaul in the 20s of the 21st century (section IV, authors L. K. Armenakyan, I. S. Kvyatkovsky, R. V. Kelmakov, S. A. Reva, A. D. Yurtaikin, N. M. Buynov, Z. V. Ilinykh, A. I. Shevchenko, M. S. Kononenko, V. I. Rudenko, A. A. Unterberg, A. A. Mikhelson, T. A. Davydova, Yu. V.
