The XI international scientific and practical conference "Altai text in Russian culture" was held at the Institute of Humanities of Altai State University. Reputable scientists and young researchers from 4 countries took part in the conference: Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and China.

At the opening of the event, Professor Larisa Nekhvyadovich, co-chair of the scientific and organizational committee of the conference and Acting Director of the Institute of Humanities at Altai State University, Doctor of Arts, reminded the audience that “Altai Text in Russian Culture” is a long-term scientific project of the Department of General and Applied Philology, Literature, and Russian Language.

She noted,

“Many events take place annually at the Institute of Humanities and the university as a whole. Some are short-lived, while others endure and come to define the identity of an entire academic field. The conference ‘Altai Text in Russian Culture’ undoubtedly belongs to the latter category and has become a true hallmark of the Institute of Humanities,” Larisa Ivanovna emphasized.

According to Ekaterina Romanova, Head of the Department of General and Applied Philology, Literature and Russian Language at the Institute of Humanities of ASU, Candidate of Philological Sciences, and co-chair of the conference, the Altai text is a broad concept that holds significant interest for humanitarian research across language, literature, history, art, and archival studies. Traditionally, the conference places special emphasis on the study of documentary, archival materials, fiction and non-fiction texts that reflect various aspects of regional culture, literature, and language.

"Philology breathes life into all humanitarian science, ranging from social and humanitarian to ethno-humanitarian fields. Moreover, as Academician Likhachev noted, philology forms the foundation of all human culture," emphasized Evgeny Popov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Humanities of ASU for Master's, Postgraduate, Scientific and Innovative Development, during the conference opening. "It is also of great importance that the conference dedicated to the Altai text in Russian culture is traditionally held at our university. This conference is held in parallel with the regional literary festival named after Robert Rozhdestvensky, which has begun its work in the Altai region. It can be said that this conference also serves as the opening for the upcoming Shukshin Days in Altai. All these events represent the Altai text, which resonates in Russian culture in a unique way. It seems to me that the experience voiced at the conference enables consolidation of the scientific efforts among specialists fom diverse fields within humanitarian science."

The plenary conference reports focused on Siberian studies, the theory and practice of studying regional culture, etc. Three sections worked within the framework of the following topics: "The works of F.M. Dostoevsky, G.D. Grebenshchikov and V.M. Shukshin in the modern world", "Altai in the literary and cultural space of Siberia", ""Regional text" in literature and culture".

The XI International Scientific and Practical Conference "Altai text in Russian culture" was attended offline and online by leading scientists from various cities of Russia, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Ufa, Tomsk, Kemerovo, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Gorno-Altaisk, etc., as well as from countries of the near and far abroad: Kazakhstan (Pavlodar, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Astana), Kyrgyzstan, and China.

The conference concluded with a vibrant scientific discussion on the issues of developing philological, historical, and cultural studies based on the regional material.
