Students of physics at the Institute of Digital Technologies, Electronics and Physics carry out experiments with powerful lasers during their practice

8 July 2022 Institute of Digital Technologies, Electronics and Physics

At the Institute of Digital Technologies, Electronics and Physics, students do educational, production and research practical trainings in the 3rd and 4th years.

The practical trainings are held in large medical institutions with high-tech equipment, in the design and testing departments of manufacturing enterprises. In addition, students are sent to medical equipment companies, forensic laboratories of law enforcement agencies, and even defense complex enterprises.

Among the latest places where students were trained, Director of the IDTEP, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Sergey Makarov named the Altai Regional Oncological Dispensary "Nadezhda", the Diagnostic Center of Altai Krai, the Federal Research and Production Center "Altai", Sibpribormash, the Altai Geophysical Plant, and the Altai Plant "Rotor."

Sergey Makarov said that during the practice, students master the algorithms for treating cancer patients with radiation therapy. Under the guidance of experienced highly qualified doctors, they work out the skills to operate and maintain high-tech medical equipment, conduct certification of premises and workplaces for compliance with radiation safety requirements.

Physicist trainees are also responsible for working with big data. The students are engaged in the processing of medical images, statistical processing of large arrays of medical data, work with programs for automated processing of medical data. In addition, there are students who in practice are engaged in nanoresearch: they study nanostructural objects of various nature using a scanning probe microscope, X-ray diffractometry, electron and optical microscopy. Physicists also conduct experiments using powerful lasers.
