International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 every year. Altai State University held a special event right before the holiday. On March 6, students could make a call to any place in the world and wish Happy International Women's Day to their mother, grandmother or sister.

This year the university invited not only its own foreign students, but also the students of Altai medical and polytechnic universities. They called Kazakhstan, Tatarstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Sudan and other countries. Over 70 people from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tatarstan, Turkey and Sudan took part in the event.

No messenger will replace a simple phone call and simple words "Mom, I love you!" The girls from Kazakhstan cried so emotionally that even others could not hold back tears.

Altai State University carried out the event in the main building, where many students gathered, wishing to call home. Despite the fact that everyone had modern smartphones in their hands, they supported the campaign. Talking to the relatives on the phone is expensive. One minute can cost 20–30 rubles. Therefore, the majority of students use WhatsApp to communicate with their loved ones.

Anyone could take part. The main requirement was to say "I love you" to the interlocutor. The desire to hear the relatives’ voice was so big that the students did not get afraid of the long line. They waited patiently. Some of them got the chance to speak to their mothers, grandmothers and sister, others were less lucky, as no one answered the call after several attempts.

Nazrikhudzha Saidaliev, curator of the Association of International Students (AIST) of Altai State University, said a few words on the preparation of the event:

"A lot of people have never told their moms that they loved them, so they could do it here. Moreover, it was the main requirement for the participation. We wanted to look at their reaction. If a person speaks sincerely, they start crying. Female students from Kazakhstan cried so much that other people wanted to burst into tears. Of course, we felt sad, but it was for the best. The students and their parents became happier. "

We hope that you did not forget to wish Happy International Women's Day to your own mothers, grandmothers, sisters and friends. Let these words warm them in the cold evenings.
