ASU opens new student dormitory complex

The tallest student dormitory in Siberia with a gym, a canteen and a medical cabinet was opened by Altai State University on May 24, 2018.

According to the Rector of Altai State University S.V. Zemlyukov, the construction cost of the building for 1,000 beds accounted for more than 560 million rubles. The dormitory has become the first facility of this kind to be built in the region within the last 40 years.

"The value of the complex is great. The construction cost amounted to 560 million rubles from the federal budget. Such a complex was last built 37 years ago, it was a 9-storey dormitory for our university," Sergey V. Zemlyukov said at the opening ceremony.

The residential complex was named "Univer-City". It consists of two residential buildings (the 16-storey and 14-storey ones), a refectory building and a connecting passage. The rooms are designed for two or three people. There is a gym, kitchens with modern appliances, a medical room, recreation rooms and classes. The construction process took two and a half years.

The students will start moving to the new complex at the beginning of the next academic year.
