Scientists of Altai State University and King George's Medical University, located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, discussed a number of areas of cooperation in the field of molecular biology.

Associate Professor of the Department of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry of Altai State University, Candidate of Biology Dmitry N. Shcherbakov paid a visit to one of the oldest universities in India – King George's Medical University. The institution opened in 1911. Despite the fact that the university trains specialists in medicine, their knowledge allows graduates to work in research institutions. For example, this university forms a complex together with Lucknow Hospital, which is one of the leading institutions for the research of infectious diseases in Southeast Asia.

During the visit, the scientist of flagship Altai State University got acquainted with the laboratory of King George's Medical University that conducts virological and diagnostic research. Here he learned about the studies that are currently being carried out on the premises of the complex.

As part of the negotiations, representatives of the University’s Department of Microbiology, Dr. Shantanu and Dr. Suruchi, expressed interest in working together in a number of areas, primarily in the field of recombinant protein production. At the end of the visit, it was decided to organize the next meeting in early 2019, in order to sign a cooperation agreement.

“King George’s Medical University struck me with a clear organization of the scientific process. University laboratories are fitted with all necessary equipment and supplies. Highly qualified staff, advanced technologies – all this gives us hope for further strong and productive relationship. I am confident that, thanks to the support of Altai State University, we will be able to build a long-term successful cooperation, because we have long-standing cultural and historical ties with India,” Dmitry Shcherbakov commented on the visit to India.
