Rector of Altai State University Sergey Bocharov made a report on the work of the flagship university in 2019

Today, January 28, an open meeting of the Academic Council of Altai State University was held, the main issue of which was the report of Rector Sergey Bocharov on the work of the flagship university of Altai Krai in 2019.

The meeting of the Academic Council of Altai State University was attended by representatives of the Government of Altai Krai, the city administration of Barnaul, deputies of the Altai Regional Legislative Assembly, business structures and higher educational institutions of the region, the Board of Trustees and the Alumni Council of Altai State University, as well as the administration, faculties, branches and the college of the flagship university, heads of student administration, representatives of student associations of the university.

The presidium of the conference, headed by the Minister of Education and Science of Altai Krai, Maxim Kostenko, included Chairman of the Committee of the Altai Regional Legislative Assembly on Health and Science Alexander Lazarev, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Chief Researcher of the Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Study of Archeology of Western Siberia and Altai Anatoly Derevianko.

At the beginning of his speech, Sergei Bocharov recalled that in 2019 Altai State University successfully passed the procedure of state accreditation and licensing of new areas of study, thanks to which the flagship university of Altai Krai until 2025 guarantees awarding a state-recognized diploma.

The past year for Altai State University was the third year of effective implementation of the flagship university development program. According to the results of a comprehensive assessment in 2019, Altai State University entered the top ten most efficient universities among flagship universities and received additional funding in the amount of 47.8 million rubles, which is 15.8 million rubles more than in 2018. These funds will be used to develop the material base of the university and stimulate scientific research activities of scientists.

“In 2019, Altai State University expanded and strengthened its presence in international and national rankings, which is one of the development priorities of our university,” Sergey Bocharov noted in his speech. “AltSU plans to further participate in the national projects Science and Education. This is also one of the priority tasks of Altai State University, in accordance with which we will modernize our educational and scientific activities, work with local communities with a focus on the development of the economy of Altai Krai. So, for example, together with the Ministry of Education and Science, we are currently preparing the House of Scientific Collaborations, which will open at our university on September 1, 2020 and will be aimed at specialized training of schoolchildren from 6th to 11th grades. In general, it should be noted that the total income of Altai State University from participation in the National Projects of the Russian Federation in 2019 exceeded 40.7 million rubles".

The University is actively involved in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Thus, the university is implementing a strategic project "Sustainable Development of Altai Territories in the Transboundary Region" to ensure balanced changes in the territories of Altai Krai. The principle of the project is to increase investment attractiveness, develop human capital, and use of natural resources. University employees give expert opinions in the field of market research, exportability of production, and models of demographic development. As a flagship university, AltSU creates an open platform for interaction and self-realization; it conducts events in the field of culture and social life, and arranges public lectures for the population.

Another priority for the development of Altai State University in 2019 was preparation for the competition for the status of a national research university. As a result, according to 6 out of 12 assessment indicators of National Research University, Altai State University raised the category in 2019, including 4 indicators related to the number of publications and the dynamics of income, the flagship university of the region reached the highest grade. At the end of the report, the Rector of Altai State University named the priorities for the development of the university for 2020.
