Altai State University became a partner of the Resource Center for the Development of Civil Initiatives and Integration of Peoples and Culture in Altai Krai in the implementation of the educational program "Mediation of Interethnic and Interfaith Conflicts: Introduction and Support of Development Practice", prepared within the framework of the community of the significant project "Resource Center 2.0: Supported By the Presidential Grants Foundation for the Practice of Mediation and Social Integration in the Border Regions”.

Head of the educational program is Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Development S.G. Maksimova, lecturers and trainers of the course are professors and associate professors of the Institute of Social Studies and the Institute of Mass Communication, Philology and Political Science  M.I. Cherepanova, E.V. Lukashevich, V.A. Dolzhikov, V.V. Nagaytsev, M.V. Kashchaeva, D.A. Omelchenko, E.O. Ebeling, S.A. Saryglar.

Advanced training courses were developed specifically for specialists of executive authorities, employees of state cultural institutions, public organizations and national-cultural autonomies from the regions of Western Siberia. The program was attended by representatives of Altai Krai and the Altai Republic, Omsk and Novosibirsk regions, about 50 listeners in total.

From 19 to 21 October, university scientists delivered a series of lectures on the problems and prospects of mediation in Russian regions and the procedural features of its implementation, methods of intercultural diagnostics and analysis of ethnocultural diversity, principles, values, strategies and tactics of intercultural dialogue, factors and conditions of interfaith tolerance. They also held a negotiation workshop aimed at developing competencies in managing interethnic and interfaith conflict situations. Upon completion of the courses, all students received nationally recognized documents.

The educational program has generated tremendous interest in the non-profit sector. Mediation technologies are very popular and relevant, they are used in various bodies and institutions of the social sphere, including in the field of interethnic and interfaith relations. However, the level of training of specialists in the use of media technologies is still low and the demand for educational services significantly exceeds the supply. In the near future, from October 26 to October 28, it is planned to conduct a third educational program dedicated to psychosocial technologies for the development of the communicative competence of a mediator in the field of interethnic and interfaith relations. The program and teaching aids for all educational programs are already available on the Resource Center website.
