On December 10 the meeting of the Guardian Board of Altai State University under the chairmanship of Altai Krai Governor Alexander B. Karlin was held.

The head of the region started the event with speech on the role and significance of the classical university in the social and economic development of Altai Krai. Alexander B. Karlin called ASU the leading Altai higher education establishment that plays a vital role in the development of region’s educational and scientific potential. The Guardian Board, in turn, does everything it can to support the university’s development, its integration into the process of solving relevant problems of Altai Krai economy, social sphere and infrastructure.

Altai Krai Administration in every possible way supports universities initiatives towards cooperation by attracting attention of the Ministry of Education and Science, as well as of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Russian President Vladimir V. Putin was also informed about this direction of ASU activities,” said the governor.

“We should clearly understand that this building project must not be long-delayed. There should be a publicly available construction schedule, social control; student construction brigade could be involved if necessary. We should clearly define the date when the construction is over and students settle into this dormitory!”

Currently, Altai Krai Administration is working on the documents concerning strategic planning of the region’s development in compliance with the Federal Law № 172 regulating strategic development. In this respect, Alexander B. Karlin asked academic society, ASU Academic and Guardian Boards and Sergey V. Zemlyukov personally to participate in this work, form the suggestions for Altai Krai strategy of social and economic development till 2030.

“You should find and specify your place in these strategic documents. No one can do it better. We will gladly accept your help and support, and it will be easier to work together and develop education, productive economy, social sphere – those areas you train specialists for.”

Altai Krai Governor also touched upon the establishment of regional overarching university.
