On December 10 the 4th meeting of the Guardian Board under the chairmanship of Altai Krai Governor Alexander B. Karlin took place at Altai State University.

According to the meeting’s agenda, after the speeches of Altai Krai Governor Alexander B. Karlin and ASU Rector Sergey V. Zemlyukov followed the reports of other members of the Guardian Board concerning the university’s achievements in scientific and educational areas.

In particular, director of Altai Regional Pulmonology Center, Honoured Science Worker of the Russian Federation, Russian Academy of Sciences corresponding member, professor Yakov N. Shoyhet noted that Altai State University was creating very powerful and promising scientific and research base that was strategically progressing towards close relation between fundamental sciences and medicine.

“Altai State University works on innovative medical products of the XXI century. All possible conditions for Altai and Barnaul are being created to take up serious positions on Russian pharmaceutical market,” emphasized Professor Ya.N. Shoihet. “Today ASU has a powerful medicines’ computer simulation complex, which allows estimating the effect of a chemical compound that does not exist, but could be projected. This reduces the volume of research work substantially, makes it more understandable, clear and purposeful. From a plenty of chemical compounds it is always possible to choose the one that could produce the most positive effect.”

Besides that, Yakov N. Shoyhet told the audience that the classical university is currently on the frontline of Russian pharmaceutics, as it develops new drug formulations. ASU Russian-American Anti-Cancer Center deals with an entirely new area of oncology – immunosignatures.

“I am in favor of cooperation with Altai State University, because it embodies new opportunities, new problem solutions that have not been solved by the mankind yet,” summarized the RAS corresponding member, Professor Yakov N. Shoyhet.
