ASU work results of 2015 were summarized at the Guardian Board meeting

At the ASU Guardian Board meeting, which took place on December 10 at the Academic Board Hall, ASU Rector Sergey V. Zemlyukov delivered the speech on the university’s work results of 2015 and acknowledged them to be positive and fast growing.

Particularly, he noted that 2015 had become the 4th year of ASU Strategic Development Program realization, which had been approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation for the period of 2012–2016. The program’s purpose is to make ASU the center of higher education, fundamental and applied science oriented at the development of Altai Krai and cross-border regions economic and social spheres. The objective the classical university faces is to establish transborder cooperation with Central Asian countries in educational, scientific, technical, humane areas, and it is being gradually accomplished.

According to Sergey V. Zemlyukov, in 2015 ASU had more than 200 research and technological developments projected in total. As a result, the university has for the first time exceeded the threshold R&D rate, established by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation for the Russian leading universities’ competition, providing the revenue equal to 296 thousand rubles per 1 teaching staff member. This is 5 times higher than the universities’ effectiveness general threshold from annual monitoring of the Ministry.

The university currently possesses significant intellectual potential. ASU staff consists of 2,5 thousand people, including 1 thousand lecturers and scientists with 4 academicians and 3 RAS corresponding members, 139 Doctors and 576 Candidates of Science.

“The university’s cultural and educational function was not set aside as well. In 2015 Cultural Education Center was opened in ASU, which has already organized the concert of Altai violinist, winner of the World Championship of Performing Arts – 2013 Stepan Mesentsev, the performance of young and popular in modern literature society Moscow poetess Irina Astakhova, the concert of Krasnoyarsk pianist Sergey Marin who played Chopin’s etudes, and the only concert of the famous Irish pianist Michael O’Rourke,” said Sergey V. Zemlyukov. “Moreover, in 2015 Altai State University has conducted a number of events intended to attract hundreds of students and scientists from other Russian regions and foreign countries.”

Altai Krai Governor Alexander B. Karlin reviewed the report on the university’s work results and reassured ASU employees that Altai Krai Administration would provide the university with all the possible help in its development.

“Altai Krai needs classical higher education strengthened by applied and academic science. We are going to support and develop this idea. This is why Altai State University has the promising future, and we will do everything for it to be dignified!” summarized Altai Krai Governor.

At the end of the event Karlin noted that comprehensive and concerned discussion of the relevant issues dealing with activities of Altai State University, which is the leading higher education institution of Altai Krai, took place during the Board’s meeting.

Further, other members of the Guardian Board made speeches on collaborative activities with the classical university. Apart from that, there was the result of ASU endowment fund yearly work presented and the issue of new members’ integration into the Board was addressed.
