On 16-17 April 2016 one of the Barnaul parks hosted the 2nd Historical Medieval Battle Tournament dedicated to the greatest victories of the Russian people over the foreign occupiers. Such tournament was held for the second year in a row, and Altai State University acted as one of the organizers.

The event was held in the framework of Student Associations Development Program. The tournament was aimed at the patriotic education of the youth, as well as at increasing interest to Russian history and healthy lifestyle.

Every visitor could immerse themselves in the Middle Ages: watch spectacular knights fight, taste and try cooking dishes of medieval cuisine, participate in historical dancing and master medieval crafts. Besides, the little guests were also able to become real knights through trying on the armour and taking part in children’s tournament.

The tournament brought together a lot of spectators of different ages, but it was especially interesting for the young people and students. Within the two days the event was visited by more than 800 people, including over 400 students. There were participants from different towns and cities of Siberia, Ural and even from Kazakhstan.
