Doctor of Biology, Professor at the Department of Ecology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology of Altai State University Roman Yakovlev made a working visit to the Museum Witt Munich (MWM), an entomological museum in Munich, Germany, in order to hold a number of meetings with colleagues from Israel, Germany, Russia and Ukraine.

One of the most important ones was the meeting with Professor of the University of Jerusalem Günter Müller (his h-index based on the Web of Science is 26). Müller is one of the world's leading experts in the field of medical entomology, the leader of multimillion-dollar malaria research projects in the Middle East and Africa. Interestingly, a large amount of money for these studies was contributed by Bill Gates.

"I have gained considerable experience while working in Central Asia, the Middle East and various regions of Africa and realized the enormous difficulties confronting the researchers (crime, poverty, illnesses, extremely unsettled political situation), so I understand the importance of meeting with a specialist actively working in Africa. A well-developed network of malaria hospitals in Mali, Guinea, Congo, Angola, Southern Algeria and other African countries will help us start working on insect taxonomy in Africa. Professor Müller assured me of support at his hospitals in Africa, if required. Such arrangements are very important. For example, we worked twice in Zimbabwe – now there is a military coup. In such an unstable situation, we should have channels in each territory where we work or will work," Professor Yakovlev explained.
