The year 2018 has greeted Altai State University with new achievements.

Altai State University captured the first place among the flagship Russian universities in UniRank, a world ranking of universities, which assesses the web popularity of universities in the world and relies on independent statistics. In the general list of universities in Russia ASU ranked 26th out of 379 evaluated Russian higher educational institutions.

ASU took the 5th position among the universities of Siberian Federal District, only giving way to the universities participating in 5–100 project – Novosibirsk State University, Tomsk State University, Tomsk Polytechnic University and Siberian Federal University.

Calculation of the university's position in the ranking is based on an algorithm that includes 5 independent indicators that are collected from 5 web sources: Moz Domain Authority, Alexa Global Rank, SimilarWeb Global Rank, Majestic Referring Domains, Majestic Trust Flow. The main indicators are site traffic, the number of links and flow metrics, as well as the number of unique visitors and page views of the university site from desktops and mobile devices.

UniRank world university ranking assesses the representation of universities in the Internet space. Thus, students and academic staff can get information about the degree of popularity of a particular university within the world, the country and the region. At the moment, about 13,000 colleges and universities from 200 countries are represented in the ranking.
