On April 3, the grand opening of the II Eurasian Model United Nations was held at Altai State University.

Model United Nations Conference is the synthesis of a scientific conference and a business game, the participants of which model the real work of the United Nations, contributing to the solution of global problems of our time and getting acquainted with the specifics of the work of the United Nations. The first Russian model UN was held under the auspices of MGIMO University and Moscow State University in 1990. Altai State University carries out such event for the second year in a row.

This time Eurasian Model United Nations hosts students from Russia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Austria and Germany.

"The UN General Assembly is a translator for the realization of human rights and the adoption of basic documents on this issue. It's nice that the current Eurasian Model UN is being implemented in the anniversary year, not only for Altai State University, but for the entire civilized world. On December 10, 1948, the Declaration of Human Rights was signed, after which the world community decided that every domestic law should also guarantee human rights,” said Natalya Zuikova, head of the Department for Human Rights Commissioner in Altai Krai. “Human Rights Commissioner in Altai Krai, Boris V. Larin, wished all the participants of the event successful work at ASU and presented a magazine where an article about the Eurasian Model UN 2017 was published. We should also not forget that the significance of the event was confirmed by the federal authorities – the grant of Rosmolodezh, which contributed to the development and improvement of this project."

This year, the work of the conference takes place within the framework of two UN bodies: the General Assembly and the Executive Board of UNESCO, specializing in education, science and culture.

In addition, the conference models the work of the world's leading media: CNN, BBC, Russia Today. Members of the editorial staff have to cover the work of the Model UN 2018 bodies. The participants of the conference can assume the role of diplomats or media representatives, study all the rules and procedures of the work of the UN, adequately present the selected states and draft a resolution.
