Acta Biologica Sibirica enters global BIOSIS database

Inclusion of ASU journals in the international citation bases of Scopus and Web of Science is one of the most important indicators of the flagship university’s activity. Therefore, the achievement of biologists of Altai State University turned out to be a real gift.

Inclusion of the journal into BIOSIS database was provided by a number of factors. According to the editor-in-chief, Professor at the Department of Ecology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology under the Faculty of Biology of ASU, Doctor of Biology Roman V. Yakovlev, the main thing was the decision taken a year and a half ago about a sharp narrowing of the journal's topics from general biological to research to biodiversity, due to which manuscripts from a number of strong specialists in biota research.

"Undoubtedly, it is encouraging that articles from abroad and from the staff of academic institutions are regularly received. Of course, working with the journal is very painstaking and I, as an editor-in-chief, would like to express my gratitude to my deputies: Professor A.V. Matsyura, who is engaged in "promotion" of the journal in information resources, and Assistant Professor E.V. Guskova, who undertook the painstaking work of preparing manuscripts for printing and not always a simple communication with the authors. The tremendous work performed by my colleagues is simply invaluable,” Roman Yakovlev emphasized. “Entering BIOSIS database is only the first step. In the future, we will strive to get the impact factor and enter other sub-bases of Web of Science, for example Zoological Records, Biological Abstract, RSCI and Web of Science Core Collection. In addition, we are also working with Scopus database."

Professor Yakovlev added that it would take a lot of effort to achieve these goals and, of course, to constantly work on improving journal workers’ skills both in the field of editorial policy and in terms of strengthening the journal’s influence.
