Altai State University has become one of the four classical universities of the Siberian Federal District, which are among the top 200 best universities in the QS-EECA (Emerging Europe and Central Asia) 2019 regional rankingmade by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds.

ASU has taken the 144 position of the ranking. Among the classical universities it only gave way to the participants of the 5-100 Project: Novosibirsk State University, Tomsk State University and Siberian Federal University.

The overall position of ASU has significantly changed compared with the results of 2017 (it moved from the 115th to the 144th place), which is associated with the entry of several dozen new universities from foreign countries, as well as the intensive development of Russian universities of the 5-100 Project receiving significant financial support from the government.

It should also be noted that, in terms of the Internationalization indicator, ASU is consistently ranked among the top 50 universities in Central Asia, which ensures that the university will join the QS global ranking list and the top 100 young universities in the world this year.

The expert assessment is based on the results of surveys of the academic and business community representatives. Data on the number of scientific publications, citation indices, the proportion of academic staff with a degree, the ratio of teachers and students, the number of foreign teachers and foreign students, the level of international interaction and the effectiveness of Internet resources are also taken into account.

QS annually publishes the lists of the best higher educational institutions of the whole world, as well as of individual states and economic regions. QS rankings are recognized as ones of the most influential in the world along with the Academic Ranking of World Universities and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
