ASU representatives took part in the 2nd International Young Researchers Conference on Deafblindness

Student of the Department of Social Work Yana Dubrovina and Assistant Professor of the Department of Social Work, Candidate of Sociology Tatyana V. Sirotina participated in the 2nd International Young Researchers Conference on Deafblindness, which was held at A.I. Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University (Saint Petersburg) in the late November. There they presented reports in English and Russian on the features of social services for families raising children with sensory disabilities in Altai Krai. The reports were prepared on the basis of the results obtained by the authors of the research carried out last year on the organization of semi-stationary social services for families with children with hearing and visual impairment in Altai Krai. In 2019–2020, the study will continue with the assistance of the Connection Deafblind Support Foundation.

The conference presented the results of studies conducted by both young researchers and leading scientists in the field of sensory disturbances from Norway, Canada, the USA, Spain, Slovenia, Croatia, Japan, India, France, Armenia, various cities and regions of Russia. Presentations, reports and master classes concerned various aspects of developing a research program and its implementation, as well as supporting families with children with special needs, early intervention, inclusive and corrective education, additional alternative communication, adaptive physical education, various technologies of habilitation and rehabilitation, banking affairs, development of non-profit organizations, assisted living.

The reports presented by Yana Dubrovina and Tatyana V. Sirotina attracted interest from Russian and foreign researchers, which confirmed the relevance, significance of the results, their practice-oriented nature. Participation in the conference and speeches were organized by the host party – the Connection Deafblind Support Foundation and Connection Academy.

Such speeches are important for the exchange of scientific ideas, the dissemination of results obtained in the framework of scientific projects, and for the promotion of Altai scientists and Altai State University in Russian and international scientific and educational space.
