Profession of a Biologist: Ekaterina Fedkevich

We continue to introduce you to the graduates of the Institute of Biology and Biotechnology of Altai State University, who related their carrer to biology. Today in our rubric "Profession of a biologist" is Ekaterina Fedkevich, Forensic Center of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Altai Krai, an expert.

- What is biology as a science for you?

- In my opinion, biology is one of the most interesting, and I can safely say, not a boring science among other disciplines studied at school or university. This is the science of all living things that surround us. Biology is multifaceted, and every person in one way or another all his or her life is faced with questions that only this science can answer.

- What emotions do you have when speaking about studying at the Institute of Biology and Biotechnology of Altai State University? What did AltSU give you for your professional development and personal growth?

- While studying at the Institute of Biology and Biotechnology, I learned a lot of interesting and practical information that has been useful in my professional activities, for a better understanding of the processes of life in my body, for developing a deeper understanding of the world around me, as well as for self-development as a personality. Of course, the knowledge gained cannot be remembered for many years, if it is not consolidated in practice. But practice is the brightest time of study. During all 6 years of my studies at the Faculty of Biology, as it was once called, I was lucky enough to visit many expeditions and visit all the practice bases of our wonderful university. I am grateful for the incredible emotions and fond memories to my department and the best scientific advisor, associate professor of the Department of Botany, Candidate of  Biological Sciences Natalya Speranskaya!

- What are your wishes for future students of the Institute of Biology and Biotechnology?

- A biologist is a versatile personality, and it doesn't matter what direction you graduate from or are studying now, all are interesting in their own way and offer a huge amount of scientific literature and information. As a person who graduated from the Institute of Biology and Biotechnology and follows the profession, I advise all current students, as well as applicants, to be responsible and attentive to their studies and gain new knowledge, remembering that everything will come in handy in life, and especially such science as biology. Learn, absorb information, and enjoy life - these are the best years of your life!
