“This is a unique scientific and educational event,” says Head of the Center for Altaic and Turkic Studies “The Greater Altai”, President of Altai State University, Professor Sergei Zemlyukov. “Firstly, we managed to implement in an educational format the most interesting materials on the history, geography, culture, and economy of the Greater Altai - a macroregion that includes the territories of Southern Siberia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries of Central Asia. Secondly, we invited teachers of Russian-language schools, teachers of universities and colleges of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, who are interested in this topic, to the platform of AltSU. We have the same goal with the teachers of neighboring countries - to conduct school lessons on regional studies, taking into account our common history, the centuries-old ties of our peoples. Next year we plan to carry out the same work for teachers in the Russian regions of the Greater Altai - in the Republic of Tyva and in Khakassia. I would like to believe that our contribution to the education of the younger generation, based on knowledge of the history, origin and traditions of their people, will allow young people to stand on their own feet and be more confidently about their future."

The events of REC for Altaistics and Turkic Studies "The Greater Altai" are held within the framework of the project "Turkic-Mongolian World of the Greater Altai: Unity and Diversity in History and Modernity" on the state order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, as well as within the framework of the strategic project "Sociocultural and Civilizational legacy of the Greater Altai” of the program of strategic academic leadership “Priority - 2030”, of which Altai State University is a member.
