On June 27, the forum of scientific and technical cooperation “China (Xinjiang)-Central Asia” started in the Chinese city of Urumqi.
The theme of the forum is “Deepening mutually beneficial scientific and technical cooperation for common creativity, sharing and mutual benefit.” The forum is taking place simultaneously with the major exhibition EXPO "China-Eurasia" and brought together representatives of government authorities, ministries of science, education and technology, national academies of sciences, the scientific and educational community of the People's Republic of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The delegation of Altai Krai was headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Altai Krai, Head of the Administration of the Governor and Government of Altai Krai, Head of the Secretariat of the International Coordination Council "Our Common Home - Altai" Vitaly Snesar.
Altai State University is represented at the forum by Roman Raikin, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development, and Irina Rotanova, an associate professor of the Department of Physical Geography and Geographic Information Systems. In addition to participating in the business program of the Forum, representatives of Altai State University will hold bilateral meetings with the leadership of universities and partner institutions of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, in particular, the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xinjiang University, Xinjiang Technical University, Xinjiang Normal University.
