24 September 2021 Department of Information and Media Communications
The Department of Information and Media Communications of Altai State University continues to implement the Science for Whyers video project, timed to coincide with the Year of Science and Technology and launched within the framework of the All-Russian Science Festival Nauka 0+.

Science for Whyers is short stories which are told on behalf and by the children themselves. There, famous scientists of Altai State University answer children's questions in a plain language, try to talk about the features of their work so that even small children can understand them.

Today Science for Whyers introduces the Russian-American Anti-Cancer Center of Altai State University, where methods of prevention and treatment of cancer are developed. By the way, today the III Seminar of the Russian-American Anti-Cancer Center "Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy of Human Diseases" will be held at Altai State University, in which leading oncologists, virologists, and immunologists of Russia and the USA will take part.

The seminar will be organized as part of the third track of the III International Biotechnology Symposium "Bio-Asia Altai 2021", which is opening today at the flagship university of Altai Krai, on the topic "Biopharmaceuticals and Personalized Medicine: Modern Challenges and Main Trends."

The implementation of the Science for Whyers project began in the spring of 2021, therefore, despite its autumn start, a number of stories are devoted to the questions that children usually ask in spring and summer. For example, why leaves bloom on trees, or why frogs croak. But most of the questions are universal and are arranged in separate small films, which DIM will show on its web resources weekly throughout the fall.

The second story is called Magic from Science and is dedicated to the story of the secrets of the research work of the Russian-American Anti-Cancer Center of Altai State University. Director of RAACC of Altai State University, Doctor of Biological Sciences Andrei Shapoval tells the whyers about the work of the Center.  It is worth noting that he recently was awarded a commendation of the Governor of Altai Krai.
